Dr. Robert A. Behar:

I’ve recently visited North Cypress Medical Center (NCMC) for my father’s hospitalization. I’m thankful, that his health is improving while staying at NCMC. Over the days of my visit I’ve been gleamed by the architecture and sculptures in the lobby and the landscape in the pond area, and thought this helps make the visits to NCMC pleasing.

After my father’s procedure, I thought I’d take time to take pictures of the fountain and surrounding area in the lobby. To my amazement I was told by the security, “You can’t take pictures!” I’m a novice photographer using an entry level camera. The access to NCMC lobby is not restricted, nor is the entry to hospital other than the hours posted. With today’s cell phone capabilities and other hand held devices people can take quality pictures without using a digital camera. I’m not certain if this is the policy of NCMC, but if I should had my wife, who was with me, pose at the fountain to take a picture would we have been met with the same discouraging news, “You can’t take pictures!” I’ve been in other hospitals, taking pictures of the visits for remembrance, and even known friends taking pictures of their pregnancy process. If this is a policy, there should be signs posted because people will normally take pictures in settings with beautiful surroundings, such as in North Cypress Medical Center.

Sincerely,

MARJOE Q. BORROMEO
